The power was out for so, so much of Mammoth Lakes last night. I wanted to go to the movies and kill time, but you can’t show a movie without power. All the breweries were closed from it. Vons didn’t have lights, but their refrigeration, music, and checkouts worked. Literally only Carl’s Jr. had power. Yikes. At least their chicken sandwich was good!

It was really nice to have a fire for my last night. I always sleep poorly when I have an alarm for the next day, though. I hate it. I want to rest but I’m so afraid of sleeping through my alarm and missing it.

At least I was up in time! I made my way to the bus station, which is next to Vons. There I saw Jess and Andrew, who were waiting with me for my ride from Lavender Ranch to Lone Pine! I guess our thing is waiting for transit together. I also met a couple from Germany, though their names escape me.

I took a look at lodging options in Truckee, while waiting for the bus, and they’re wildly overpriced. I decided to overnight in Reno, get some rest, then take a Greyhound to Truckee and start early the next day. The earliest Greyhound departs at 9:25 am and gets to Truckee around 10:40 am. Perfect for a late start.

The bus to Reno came, but it was full. The driver told us there was another coming in about 20 minutes, but not to quote him on that. It was really about an hour and 20 minutes. But transit is transit! I got to Reno finally, booked my room at Motel 6, checked in, plugged in as many of my devices as I could, showered, then hung up all my gear to dry. Holy smokes was my tent sopping wet!

Much to my surprise, this Motel 6 also had laundry service. I tore off a sheet of the laundry soap I got from the hiker box in Lone Pine (seriously, next level to have sheets of laundry soap in your bag), and started laundry. I went to the room, watched some Food Network, which inspired me to order a pizza. I finished the laundry, ate pizza, rotated what was charging, and zonked out.
