Second zero!
The young group that was doing trail work packed up early this morning and took off. Though they were quiet and respectful, it was still a lot of noise and movement. But it’s cool, we all gotta exist in space together.
After that, we made some breakfast. Scrambled eggs, toast, and turkey bacon. Hell yes.
I hung out with Bestie, Stroker, Tiny Bladder (TB), and a bunch of others who had a big group dinner the night prior.
After that Ketchup and I kind of hung out and wandered around. We went to a coffee shop, had some pastries, and just decompressed. We unpacked our resupply boxes and tried to fit it all in our bags. Yeah. No. We got too damn much.
You’d think that by now I’d know how to do a freaking resupply. You’d think.
Whatever. At least we found karaoke! Well, I did. And sunshine and Ketchup were in! Sunshine got a couple other people, Fiddlehead and some others, interested.
It was a lazy day, perfect for a zero. Ketchup and I went and got some ice cream and met some of the loveliest, funniest people working at the ice cream shop.
When karaoke time rolled around, Sunshine and I went to the bar. Ketchup was hanging out with some new friends and would meet us later. Fiddlehead and the others were already there. The crowd was big, and they were warm. It was the kind of crowd that would vibe with anyone who just sang with conviction. If you loved your song, they would, too. It’s such a fun kind of crowd and super validating.
I sang You’ll Be Back from Hamilton and have never had a response to that song like they gave me. They sang along and cheered and had so much fun with it. It was bliss and wonderful. And Sunshine sang so beautifully, but I can’t remember what she sang. It was a song I wasn’t familiar with.
After the first round, Ketchup came by with her friend. We all just partied and talked and sang and danced. It was the kind of night where you just let everything go.
And they convinced me to take a third zero day.
