The day on trail
Today I woke up to snow covering my tent! I knocked a bunch of it off the the rain fly. It consolidated at the bottom and turned my pole around and partially collapsed my tent! Once I knocked it off the base of the tent, though, it was fine and popped back up!
Not too many photos because of the weather. It was rainy, cold, and hard to work a camera; I could barely work my phone.
It started off so snowy.
But the terrain was gorgeous. Rolling hills and meadows. You could see the trail stretch in front of you for a half mile or more. It wound through a few meadows and hills then turned up a hill and mountain, then into some woods.
The sun teased us out in the woods, but it was for short stints. When we got to Eagle Rock it started raining again, but I was able to sneak a photo. I wish it had come out better but, alas.
Continuing along, we saw cattle!
The white and black ones were standing in the trail and moved when we got closer. I wanted to make sure I didn’t spook them, so I didn’t have my phone ready until they were off trail.
And the trail continues.
This gate was so cute.
Some dramatic woods.
And this weird obstacle course set up in the forest.
Finally, at camp, a surprise. My first golden chanterelle find! They were so delicious and tasted almost like really moist turkey!
Those chanterelles look absolutely bonkers good. I’d love to fry those up with a little seasoning. The trail giveth! That photo at Eagle Rock… now that’s pretty dang epic. I can see how it earned its name. Plus… there’s you! In your rainbow pants and kilt! The snow can go take a hike (I can be punny at times), and so can the heavy rain… but I agree: that terrain is gorgeous, especially with all those moody outdoor tones!
They were so stinking good omg
The rock was so fun!
Whoa….looks like that tree got nailed by a lightning bolt!!! Power of nature. Also…that Eagle Rock photo is fantastic!
Eagle rock is so cool. But “hawk rock” would sound better imho
