It felt so nice to sleep in a bed. And not a hotel bed but an actual human bed. That’s one of my favorite things about staying with trail angels.
Dryden and I hung out a bit before she went to work. We had a little breakfast and she took off. I did my laundry and had another really long shower. She has a skin scrubber she said I could use that got the skin under my beard. What bliss.
I headed out to get my errands done. I had a bunch of things ti take care of that we’re hiking related, and I needed to get fingerprinted for my Arizona PTA license. I set an appointment for the fingerprinting, which was going to have to be tomorrow. It’s going to take an extra day for Arizona’s licensing board to get me the information I need because their systems are currently down.
First I went to REI. I needed to exchange my shoes. They were falling apart prematurely. I got the last pair of 10.5 men’s wide Lone Peaks. Lucky! And I spent some time just wandering around the store. I talked with some people about sleeping pads and recommended the Nemo Tensor, which is what I use and love.
After that I went to a Vietnamese restaurant and ordered a whole mess of food. Pho, spring rolls, and one or two other things. The spring rolls were sublime and everything else was great.
After that I went to a bookstore and coffee shop to wander around. I met some cool people, sat down and had a delicious decaf latte and a scone. Both were good.
After my latte, I was just wandering the area and found a dairy free ice creamery. Score! I got a small cone.
After that I headed back to Dryden’s. It was getting a little late. She came home and I tried to cook up the porcini, but it was too buggy to eat. We ended up ordering more DoorDash. I don’t remember what. But it was really nice to spend time with her.
We stayed up for a bit talking, then crashed.
