I’m ready to get out of here.
Camping is great, though this weather is less than ideal. It’s constantly wet. I’m also really treating my campsite more like a motel room. I’m constantly in town, which I don’t mind because everything is walking distance. But I miss hiking.
I haven’t had a gratifying trail day since hitting Kennedy Meadows. I miss my big mileage days, my 20-25 mile days. There’s a quiet euphoria and deep sleep that comes with them.
I double checked the bus schedule and bus fare and got ready for my departure to Reno, then Truckee tomorrow.
It had been so rainy and gloomy. I wanted a little light and I wanted to take advantage of having a full campsite, so I purchased some firewood. I had to dig in the pile to find a bundle that was a little dryer than the rest. It took a lot of work to get going, but with a little white gas and a lot of toilet paper (hey, if you don’t provide dry kindling I’ll find some!) I got a nice one going.
Goodnight for the last time for a while, Mammoth Lakes. I hope to come back soon…but not before I finish the trail!
