Kennedy Meadows. Gateway to the Sierra.
There’s so much to do. Today will be about chores, eating, and starting to put together our group for the Sierra.
I slept well; the bed in the yurt was comfortable.
We got an absurdly large pancake with some eggs for breakfast. Well. Sinead got eggs, pancake, and some sausage or bacon. I elected to have an extra egg instead of pork.
We did laundry…or tried. The washing machine is unimpressive at best. At least the clothes look less dirty and smell better. I wouldn’t call them clean though.
My friend Marie (no trail name yet!) and I caught up a bit. We’ve been running into each other since the first or second week on trail and have a really cool little friendship. I’m always excited to see each other and it seems to always be “see you later” instead of “goodbye.”
After breakfast, laundry, and a shower we went to Triple Crown Outfitters, run by Yogi. I was surprised to find incredibly reasonable prices for food and gear. Yogi brags about her prices online, yet I’m always skeptical of people who brag about prices. I’m a show, don’t tell, kind of guy.
After a little shopping we headed back to the General Store and I got slaughtered, multiple times, in Uno.
We met with a group, Refill, Nasty Cheese, Shaman, Primo, Layla, and Karate Kid. We put together an itinerary and set a time to meet the following day to finalize plans.
Then it was to bed. We’re tired and also energized from the social situation. Primo had a fire and it went way too long. Luckily, people tend to start filtering away after 10 because they get tired. I’ve also gotten used to filtering out the noise, especially in places like this.
